Publishing Gateway adds ReviewerOne to its partner network for peer review services
London / Berlin, 08 September 2026
Publishing Gateway, the platform that enables academic institutions to take stewardship of the research published under their name, has added ReviewerOne to its partner network as a service provider for peer review.
The platform
Publishing Gateway gives institutions a single, publisher neutral workflow for journal articles, with standardised processes, defined turnaround times and full process transparency for researchers. Through their own institutional portal, research offices and libraries gain a complete and transparent overview of publishing costs, with individual articles allocated directly to the relevant cost centres, and the governance structure to steer the publication process rather than observe it.
The platform runs the route from submission through integrity checking, peer review, production and journal recommendation. Institutional subscription covers production costs, so article processing charge budgets stay intact and are allocated against confirmed submissions. Coverage is confirmed at the point of upload, and cost position is visible to the researcher before a submission target is chosen.
Publishing Gateway is not a replacement for a publisher’s submission system. It is a presubmission quality layer that delivers cleaner manuscripts into whichever editorial management system a journal already uses, each accompanied by a structured quality report covering prescreening scores, compliance status, scope alignment and flagged items. For editorial teams, that removes the prescientific handling burden of incomplete references, non-compliant structure and missing declarations. For publishers, submissions arrive with institutional funding already confirmed.
Delivering that at institutional volume requires operational capability beneath the workflow layer. Publishing Gateway sources it through a partner network rather than building it, and ReviewerOne now supplies the peer review capacity within that network.
What ReviewerOne delivers
ReviewerOne supplies reviewer capacity and manages the reviewer relationship across its full lifecycle. This covers reviewer identification through ReviewerSelect, verification through ORCID and partner integrations with conflict of interest screening, structured training and certification through Reviewer Academy, invitation and response management, template driven review execution that enforces the quality criteria the platform defines, editorial quality assurance with continuous reviewer rating, and recognition and community programmes that keep reviewers engaged between assignments. The result is reviewer supply that holds up under volume rather than depending on editorial goodwill.
Philipp Hess, Chief Executive Officer of Publishing Gateway, said:
No single platform fixes academic publishing, and we have never claimed otherwise. The route from manuscript to published article has to work to one standard, which means production, integrity, reviewer discovery and cost visibility in one place. We provide the institutional layer. Our partners add depth where the process usually slows down, and ReviewerOne gives us reviewer capacity at the volume a research intensive institution actually produces.
Yogesh Agarwal, Founder of ReviewerOne, said:
Our role is to deliver reviewer capability to the standard our clients set, and to stay out of the editorial decisions that are properly theirs. Better matched reviewers and better run review serve everyone in the chain, publishers included.

Publishing Gateway and Global Campus partner to bring AI-powered expert discovery to academic institutions, publishers, and the wider scholarly publishing workflow
Berlin, 01 September 2026
Publishing Gateway, the institutionally driven platform transforming how academic research is published, has today announced an innovative new partnership with Global Campus, the AI-powered knowledge navigation platform that connects academic institutions, publishers, and funders with the world’s academic expertise in seconds. Together, the two platforms are set to make the scholarly publishing process smarter, faster, and better connected than ever before, combining Publishing Gateway’s streamlined institutional workflow with Global Campus’ ability to surface the right experts, reviewers, and journals from across the global research landscape.
The right expert, at the right moment
One of the most persistent challenges in academic publishing is finding suitable peer reviewers, quickly, accurately, and at scale. Global Campus tackles this head-on with AI-driven, understanding-based matching that goes far beyond keyword searches. Rather than relying on spurious metrics or surface signals, Global Campus analyses the actual content of research to identify the most relevant experts from its vast, global index of academic knowledge. For institutions, publishers, and researchers working with Publishing Gateway, this capability is transformative. Peer reviewer identification, historically one of the slowest steps in the editorial process, can now be handled with speed and precision, directly complementing Publishing Gateway’s commitment to delivering peer review with greater speed, accuracy, and editorial quality. Publishers gain full visibility of the transparent review process from the moment of article submission, with reviewer identities, comments, and author responses visible end-to-end.
A shared ambition for a smarter scholarly ecosystem
Our mission is to give institutions and publishers a smarter, more standardised route to publication, and reviewer discovery has always been one of the hardest parts of that workflow to get right. Global Campus brings a depth of understanding to expert matching that complements everything we are building at Publishing Gateway, and together we can deliver an editorial process that genuinely serves the research community,
Keyword searches and citation counts have taken scholarly publishing as far as they can. What the sector needs now is a deeper understanding of content of who the right experts really are, and that is what we bring to this partnership. Combining our semantic AI with Publishing Gateway’s institutional workflow means smarter matches, faster decisions, and better outcomes for research,
Unlocking the world’s knowledge, together
The partnership represents more than a technical integration; it’s a shared belief that the scholarly publishing ecosystem works best when the right knowledge reaches the right people without delay. With Publishing Gateway handling the workflow and Global Campus navigating the world’s research expertise, institutions, publishers, and researchers can look forward to a publishing process that is not just faster, but genuinely more intelligent.

Publishing Gateway and Signals partner to bring research integrity to the heart of scholarly publishing.
Berlin / London, 27 August 2026
Publishing Gateway, the institutionally driven platform transforming the scholarly publishing workflow, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Signals, which delivers deep research integrity evaluations of every publication and any manuscript . The collaboration brings two of the most exciting innovators in the scholarly ecosystem together in a shared mission: making research publishing faster, more transparent, and fundamentally more trustworthy.
Integrity built in, not bolted on
Research integrity has never mattered more. With growing concerns around retraction rates, peer review manipulation, and the proliferation of compromised research, the scholarly publishing world is urgently looking for smarter, more proactive solutions. Signals delivers exactly that, evaluating manuscripts against the Signals Data Graph, its curated network of the scholarly record, to create deep, transparent evaluations within minutes .
By integrating Signals’ capabilities into the Publishing Gateway workflow, institutions and publishers gain a powerful new layer of confidence at every stage of the submission and publication process. Manuscripts can be screened for integrity signals before they ever reach a reviewer. Published articles can be continuously monitored. And editorial teams can act on clear, data driven insights rather than guesswork.
A shared vision for a more trustworthy ecosystem
At Publishing Gateway, we set out to make scholarly publishing faster, fairer, and more transparent for everyone involved. Partnering with Signals takes that mission a decisive step further” said Philip Hess, CEO, Publishing Gateway.” “Research integrity cannot be an afterthought; it has to be designed into the workflow from the very first submission. By bringing Signals into our platform, we are giving institutions and publishers the confidence that what they publish has been evaluated with the rigour the scholarly community deserves.
Elliott Lumb, Co-Founder , Signals added: Signals was built on the belief that trust in research must be evidenced, not assumed. Working with Publishing Gateway lets us put that evidence directly into the hands of the editors, institutions, and publishers making decisions every day. It is a natural partnership: It is a natural partnership: their platform offers a new route for manuscripts to reach the right journal, and ours makes sure integrity travels with them at every step.
Signals, which recently secured $ 1.1M in seed funding backed by ACS Publications and Enago, is already working with publishers, platforms , and researchers across the globe. Signals handles complex manuscript evaluation at scale so publishers can protect journal reputations , and editors can focus on quality and curation.
Smarter publishing at every stage
Together, Publishing Gateway and Signals deliver a complete scholarly publishing experience that is not only efficient and transparent, but actively safeguarded. In a fraction of the traditional time taken, AI driven journal matching, and real time integrity screening built into the workflow, the partnership sets a new benchmark for what responsible, technology led publishing can achieve.
